Do you only create Squarespace websites?

While Squarespace is my platform of choice, that doesn’t mean it’s always the best choice for our clients! I also design in other platforms, such as WordPress.

How long have you been designing Squarespace websites?

I’ve been designing on Squarespace for roughly 10 years!

What industries do you normally design for?

I design mainly for small business owners and nonprofits, but the individual industries range. Many of my nonprofit clients are community-based organizations, such as conservation groups or nonprofits focused on local solutions. My small business clients include a wide-range of industries, such as custom home builders, service providers, coaches, and more.

What is your design style?

My overarching style is clean, modern, and refined. I’ve done everything from corporate to boutique websites. If you have a specific style in mind, I can’t wait to hear about it.

How far out do you book?

Right now, I’m booking out about 1 -2 months but cancellations happen, so sometimes we have more immediate availability. However, cancellations happen and we may opt to work on generating content in the meantime, so make sure to reach out as soon as possible. If you have a tight timeline, let us know! There are also VIP packages available that get you a launch date in 4 days instead of 4 weeks.

How long does it take to design a Squarespace website?

Most site builds are 4 - 8 weeks depending on complexity and how long it takes for our clients to get back to us. Our process for new builds includes 2 homepage previews, 3 desktop proofs, and 3 mobile proofs, which takes time. While some stages take longer to proof than others, we strive to get revisions back in 1 - 3 days.

Can I customize my Squarespace website without coding knowledge?

Absolutely! We do include CSS on all our websites though, so depending on what you want to change, you may need a little extra support. For the most part, updating text and switching out images is just fine.

How will I know how to use my Squarespace website after its launched?

One of the best parts of Squarespace is the community that comes with it. There are a ton of designers online who are committed to doing education on the platform, including videos walking you through all the basics. You can also pay for training sessions, where we’ll go over the basics and then anything specific to your website needs that you want to make sure you know how to do. If you decide you don’t want to learn how to design websites, you can always pay for changes as needed, or buy discounted maintenance hours at the beginning of the year.

Can I add a blog to my Squarespace website?

Yes! Blogging on Squarespace is considered very easy and it’s a great way to boost your website’s SEO. Your blog can be added anytime. My standard package includes creating a blog landing page, blog template, blog title card design, and giving you a tutorial for how to add blogs, adjust the settings, etc.

How do I add an online store to my Squarespace website?

All Squarespace websites come with e-commerce features, allowing you to sell physical and digital products. This particular feature is one that most people hire someone to do as the initial set up can feel complex to new users.

Can you help my nonprofit integrate donation forms on a Squarespace site?

Absolutely, though it does depend on the donation software you’re using. You can accept donations through Squarespace, or we can embed donation forms from other platforms. Sometimes, if the embed feature isn’t available or doesn’t look as nice as we’d like it to, we opt to send the website visitor directly to the donation software’s landing page for the organization.

Are Squarespace websites accessible for nonprofits on a budget?

Squarespace is an excellent choice for nonprofits. Staff can update them, the hosting fees are considered low for the industry, you can get a free domain for the first year (restrictions apply), and best of all, you don’t have to pay for someone to host your site, do monthly maintenance, or pay for unnecessary plugin fees.

Does Squarespace allow you to add events?

There is an events feature! You can view events in a calendar or list, and add details, links, images, and more.

Can you help my nonprofit set up email campaigns directly through Squarespace?

Yes, we can use Squarespace’s Email Campaigns so that you can edit your website and design your emails all in one place. We find this tool to be very easy to use and a great starting place for people looking to build their email list. That being said, if you want to prioritize donor communications, you may already have email marketing services through them.

Do you provide ongoing website maintenance and support for small businesses?

We provide maintenance, both in terms of pre-paid hours, hourly work, and retainers. That being said, it is not required! Unlike WordPress websites, Squarespace sites require much less maintenance. We find that the continued web design needed really varies from client to client, with not needing any for years and others wanting to regularly update their events, add blogs, etc.

What is a website style guide?

A Website Style Guide is a multi-page PDF that includes information on settings (typography, color palette, social sharing image, cookie notice, etc.) and where those settings are located. If you’re worried about accidentally changing a setting or you don’t have brand style guides, this can be a powerful resource. We also include samples of sourced photography and a copy of all the CSS code used.
